I would like to have some help with the Functional safety documentation for TXE8116-Q1, the link in the datasheet refers to TCAL9539-Q1 not TXE8116-Q1, could you please provide the functional safety documentation for TXE8116-Q1?

    Hi Sijia, 

    It looks to be an incorrect link in the datasheet. I think the engineer overseeing the datasheet linked the closest functional safety document for the time being while we develop functional safety document for the TXE81xx. When would you need the functional safety documentation by? 

    Is it needed to evaluate the device?

    I would like to confirm whether the functional safety documentation for this device is currently available.

    If not, could you kindly advise whether there is an alternative product that already has complete functional safety documentation developed—particularly a Safety Manual that includes descriptions of the implemented safety mechanisms, diagnostic features, and their coverage?

    Hi Sijia,

    The complete documentation that I would recommend is from the TCAL9539-Q1 functional safety document. 

    IF this document is not enough, do you have an example functional safety document that you can share that has the information that you need?

    Could you please recommend an alternative product that includes a Safety Manual, similar to the one provided for the TPS65919-Q1?

    Hi Sijia,

    We will not have an extensive safety manual for I/O expanders similar to the PMU. 

    Closest document will be the functional safety doc provided for the TCAL9539-Q1.

    Hi Sijia,

    The TXE8116-Q1 and TCAL9539-Q1 are not ASIL-B. Therefore, we do not have this type of safety manual for these devices. 

    We are in the process of creating a functional safety document similar to TCAL9539-Q1 for the TXE8116-Q1 and TXE8124-Q1. You can expect that document to appear in the product page sometime in the near future.

    Could you kindly let us know the estimated timeframe for the completion of the document you are currently working on?

    Additionally, we would like to confirm our understanding: the document in progress includes the Functional Safety FIT Rate, Failure Mode Distribution (FMD), and Pin Failure Mode Analysis (FMA), but does not include a Safety Manual similar to that provided for the TPS65919-Q1?
    Is this correct?

    FIT rate: yes

    FMD: yes

    FMA: yes

    and correct on the safety manual, this will not be included for the TXE8116-Q1 or TXE8124-Q1 because these devices are not ASIL-B rated.
