DS100BR111A: Redriver supporting 1000BASE-T

Part Number: DS100BR111A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100MB203,

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

My customer is running 1000BASE-T over a 1.5m cable, but is experiencing signal degradation and is looking for a redriver.
Based on the following threads, it seems that TI doesn’t have a redriver that supports 1000BASE-T.
Is this true?
If yes, is there a solution TI can suggest?

  • Hi Takahashi-san,

If customer is observing signal degradation for 1000Base-T in a 1.5m cable, I believe they may have a significant component selection or layout issue.  1000Base-T is rated for 100m in Cat5e or better cables.

TI does not have a signal conditioning device suitable for Base-T Ethernet.  RMII uses CMOS logic signal, so TI's high speed signal conditioning devices are also not suitable for this.  You could look into TI's logic level buffers.

Devices like DS100BR111A would support high speed differential interfaces like SGMII.

    Thanks,

    Drew
