SN65HVD234: Counterfeit Identification

Part Number: SN65HVD234

Tool/software:

Hello

Few years ago, our purchase team bought a TI CAN Transceiver(SN65HVD234) from 2 different distributors, one is Mouser(TI authorized distributor) and the other is TI unauthorized distributor.

And recently we have checked that there are differences on package marking.

as below attached image, Could you recognize that the CAN transceiver from unauthorized distributor is counterfeit or not?

  • Sorry I reattached 'Marking Comparison' Table

    Thank you

  • Hi Son,

The top with TI logos seem correct and do not recognize the bottom, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.

  • Thank you Michael,

I have more question to clear this issue.

Does the inability to recognize the bottom markings on the product purchased from unauthorized distributor which is not on the authorized distributor list of Texas Instrument mean that for genuine Texas Instruments products, the top and bottom markings must be recognizable by Texas Instruments?

    Thanks,

    Son

  • Hi Son,

No, the top markings in the system seem to match the provided images. Hence, the devices seem valid.

I have followed up with the assembly team to further double confirm and will update you as soon as we confirm, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.

  • Hi Son,

The assembly site confirmed TI changed the symbol format and both are valid - the left image shows a 2021 device with TI's old symbol and the right image shows a 2023 device with TI's changed symbols, further clarified in TI PCN 20211123004, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.
