DS90UB984-Q1MEVM: limitations for DS90UB984-Q1MEVM Board.

Part Number: DS90UB984-Q1MEVM

Tool/software:

We developed  a converter board (sink side) to connect to the TI board (source side). Data transfers successfully from source to sink when powering on the TI board first, followed by the converter board. Conversely, if the converter board is powered on before the TI board, data transfer fails.

so is there any limitations for  DS90UB984-Q1MEVM  Board.

  • Hi,

Since the 984 is a NDA part, please reach out to your local FAE to post on the internal E2E forum. Here are some steps to take in the meantime:

Can you please provide a full block diagram of your system? I imagine it is something like this but I want to double check.

When you say "data transfer fails," do you mean that when you generate 984 PATGEN, the video is unsuccessful? Or is there no I2C communication with the device?

Can you specify what type of converter you are using?

Can you also provide step-by-step what you are powering on and initializing?

There is a power-up sequence for the 984 mentioned in 8.3 Power Supply Recommendations of the datasheet, but we can talk about it in more detail once I understand the scope of the system and this thread gets moved to the internal forum. Thank you!

Again, please reach out to your local FAE to post this on the internal forum, as this is currently a public forum.

    BR,

    Esther

  • Block diagram:

“Data transfer fails” means there is no data detect on the DP port.

The converter converts the DP to LVDS using a Chinese chip LT7911, which is a convert chip.

    Powering on and initializing:

    OK case:

    1. Powering on 984 EVM
    2. Powering on Magna PCB to output data
    3. Powering on Converter and display

    Not OK case:

    1. Powering on Converter and display
    2. Powering on EVM
    3. Powering on Magna PCB to output data

Pleas share the power-up sequence for the 984 mentioned in 8.3 Power Supply Recommendations of the datasheet.

  • Hello,

“Data transfer fails” means there is no data detect on the DP port.

Which side is indicating no data detected on the DP port? The 984 DES or LT7911 converter?

    Powering on and initializing:

Given what is indicated here, this seems to be improper sequencing that is leading to the issue. As Esther highlighted above, please reach out to your local FAE so that we can continue these discussions on the internal forum.

Pleas share the power-up sequence for the 984 mentioned in 8.3 Power Supply Recommendations of the datasheet.

I cannot share this on the public forum. Please work with your local FAE or sales representative to move this discussion to the internal forum and/or to arrange granting you access to the full data sheet.

    Best,

    Nikolas

  • Could you pls provde the Local FAE to support.  I am located in Shanghai, China.

we just try to contact the FAE, no repsonse from TI support

  • Hi,

Sorry about the delay. I have reached out to the marketing team so they can grant you NDA access, wherein you can directly contact us through the internal forum. You should receive an email from our marketing team soon.

    Appreciate the patience,

    Esther
