TUSB2046B - unknown device

Is anything connected downstream from the hub?  The only driver that shouldbe needed for the hub itself is usbhub.sys?

@Dan: No, nothing. Now there is also a STM32F103 on the board, but the problem is still the same.

Today, we verified on a linux system that the problem is our board and not Windows. Even on Linux, the device is recognized as a usb hub, but then the enumeration fails. It seems as if the PC sends some packaged several times before giving up (because the chip which is not responding).

Is there anyway to plug the upstream port into a standard Windows PC and see if it works?

Well, we tested it on two machines running,  Windows XP SP3, one with Ubuntu and one with Windows Vista. It was always the same, they recognized a usb hub, but that's it. No enumeration. We plugged the upstream port into the PC, without any downstream devices. We also changed the TUSB2046B chip, but the result was the same.

I looked at your schematics and found some design issues:

1. you need to have pull ups on OVRCUR pins. These are active low pins and have to be pulled up by default.

2. Unused DP4/DM4 needs to be pulled down.

3. I couldn't make out if you had pulled up or pulled down EXTMEM, since you are not using an EEPROM, please pull this up.

4. The reset coming off MCP130 should be atleast 1.5 to 2 ms.

5. You can leave suspend open. It's an output pin.

Let me know if it works after you make these changes.

I'm designing the hub circuit with TUSB2046B Self-Powered Hub, Individual-Port Power-Management.

I haven't used pull up resistors on OVRCUR pins and I was not used Rd on XTAL2 pin.

Is it ok?

OVRCUR pins are input to the hub and are active low and so you need to pull them up.

Rd resistor is used to limit the output of the inverter so that the crystal is not over driven. So you need to have that to get proper oscillations.

Now Im testing my HUB circuit.

When I insert my HUB to Linux PC Im getting the following error messages,

Somewhere I read " It was a hardware problem. It's amazing what a few missing resistor and capacitor can do!"
