DS160PR412: EQ boost at output?

Hello team,

My customer is considering DS160PR412.

This device has CTLE feature to boost high frequency gain at the receiver.
My customer would like to know if CTLE can be used as pre-emphasis at the output.

In other words, would this device output pre-emphasized signal?

Hi Kei,

As this is a linear redriver, there is no pre-emphasis added by the redriver. However, during link training the Host and Endpoint can add equalization, pre-emphasis or de-emphasis to establish a reliable link, the de-emphasis or pre-emphasis is passed through the redriver.

Thank you for your answer!

Customer is not going to use this device in PCIe platform, so there is no link training or equalization from the host.

Figure below is what the customer want to do with this device.
Is this possible using DS160PR412?

Hi Kei,

This is possible, there is a mode to disable Rx Detect in the redriver so it will enable without link training.
