TCAN1145-Q1: fail to initialize the TCAN1145

Part Number: TCAN1145-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Ti experts,

My customer is using TCAN1145 in OBC and PDU. They met accidental case that they fail to initialize the TCAN1145.

Can you list several potential reasons that will casue this issue for helping figure out the root cause.

And do you have corresponding solution for above conditions.

  • Hi Gary,

I cannot comment at this moment, please ask them for more information.

What do they mean by fail to initialize? What's the exact issue? Any waveform to show the failure?

    Regards,

    Sean

  • Hi Sean,

    Thanks for your reply.

Fail to initialize means they can not set the register after POR. The value they set into the register will lost.

Do you know what conditions will cause the issue. They want to get some clues to figure out the root cause.

Which signals do you want us to capture?

  • Gary,

Using SPI interface needs VIO supplied, they can first check if VIO is correctly supplied. It is also recommended to add a 1uF capacitor near the VIO pin.

If VIO is supplied, they can check if SPI communication is normal. Did they failed to write registers only or both read & write failed? If they can still read, read the MODE_CNTRL, INT_1, INT_2, INT_3 registers. Ensure they are using Mode 0. (CPOL=0, CPHA=0).

    Regards,

    Sean
