PC Driver installation

Got the EXP430F5438 kit with the USB3410 chip on it. Instructions say to install the USB drivers but don't say how. Tried updating the driver after plugging in the board but can't get 2000 to recognize the drivers provided (version 2 seems to be for 2000, v3 for Vista). Tried registering them first, still no luck. Can anyone point me to installation instructions for the USB drivers?

  • Regarding the TUSB3410 drivers included with the EXP430 development board, I can fairly remember that it uses an old driver that installs under two different categories at device manager: Multi-port serial adapter and Ports. I can also remember that it’s compatible with both Win 2K and Win XP. So far, our TUSB3410 support has been focused in V3 for Vista since it’s a brand new architecture.

About the installation in Win 2K, please follow the attached “Installation-VCP-2K.pdf” document in this reply. This is an example procedure of how our default TUSB3410 VCP driver must be installed in Win 2K, using our default Vendor ID and Product ID, with the default automatic installer.

Please let me know if this helps in something.

  • Thanks for the response. I have a 5438 development board kit with the 3410 on it. The forum devoted to this board didn't seem to have more of an answer than "install the drivers" when I trolled through the responses to a similar question so I tried here instead. The EXP430F5438 kit didn't come with any software, its all on the web. And there is no installation program like the VCP you have for the TUSB3410 there. That's the problem. Windows will not recognize the USB driver programs that are on that web page even when I put them in the driver directory in the OS. There must be some magic that an install program can do that I can't. I'll start backtracking though our Rep and see if he can get someone to help me.
