TCAN284XEVM: Microcontroller schematic missing

Part Number: TCAN284XEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5529,

Tool/software:

Hi all, in the TCAN284XEVM User's Guide document (slu388.pdf), the Microcontroller used onboard (the MSP430F5529, marked as U2 in the BOM) is completely omitted from the schematic at page 20. How should I know how the microcontroller is to be programmed? Which SPI interface/Chip Select it uses? It feels like some documentation is missing...

Please provide me with the relevant information.

  • Hi Marco,

The MCU isn't included in the documentation because it was for an internal feature that wasn't fully fleshed out before board release.

The MCU doesn't actually do anything on this board and isn't needed for testing.

I have included it in case you want to try to program MCU to write the SPI commands - but you won't be able to test full CAN functionality as the MCU included doesn't have a CAN controller integrated.
