DP83867IR: DP83867IR with Molex connector (936273606)

Part Number: DP83867IR

Tool/software:

I think of using DP83867IR with Molex RJ45 connector  (936273606).

The connector has magnetics, and it has VCC pin in PHY side interface shown as follows. Should I connect the VCC pin, or can I leave the VCC pin to floating?

In the Fig 8-2 in the DP83867IR datasheet, there is no VCC between PHY and RJ45.

  • Hi Suzuki-san, it is okay to leave VDD floating as our PHY is voltage mode driver. However, we do not recommend magnetics with integrated center taps (center taps that have the same ground). This has shown to degrade some EMI performance so please consider using the recommended magnetics on the datasheet (HX5008NL) or magnetics that have separate grounds for each center tap.

  • Hi J-san.

Thank you very much for answering the question. I will check the HX5008NL ot other magnetics that have separate grounds for each center tap

  • Hi Suzuki-san,

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
