SN75176B: Authenticity check

Part Number: SN75176B

Tool/software:

Hello,
We are trying to identify component authenticity
Can you send me information to decipher the date code for SN75176BP? BR

  • The first character denotes the year and the second denotes the month.

The bottom image suggests that the device maybe from 2023 of October (assembly date).

I looked through our internal systems and the top markings atleast match the format that TI used for that time frame and the lot trace code appears in my system. This alone doesn't confirm they are authentic but seems like they pass the initial screening of what I would normally look at.

  • Hello,
These are two batches of components mixed on a series of our boards. These components have the date code 20NDCM (first photo),
a code that seems incorrect to us. With this code, the components become hot and become non-functional. Our boards are manufactured with the SN7576B specified in the BOM for many years. Can you help us clearly identify what is happening with this batch? BR
  • Vincent,

The first image looks like it doesn't match TI's naming structure.

We use 2 characters to denote year and month then 4 to designate the lot trace then finally a character to designate the assembly site.

The 'M' top marking on the first picture doesn't make sense. We do not use '0'.... 1-9 for January through October. Then A B C for the remaining months. There is no '0' month.

The total amount of characters also do not match TI's character count.

The 'dot' also does not appear on pin 1 like the other units or the image shown above.

Lastly, the TI logo looks too curvy... Our logo is usually more defined/sharper edges

Did you buy these units from an authorized seller?

The date code (Year 2022) seems to show this one was assembled during the pandemic when there was a huge shortage. This may be one of the many counterfeits that were rampant during that time frame.

  • Thank you for this analysis.

We do not purchase directly, but only via EMS.

We are continuing our research with our suppliers.

I will get back to you with the names of the parts suppliers.
