TCAN2451-Q1: we observed that there is no specific information provided regarding functional safety or ASIL (Automotive Safety Integrity Level) compliance.

Part Number: TCAN2451-Q1

Tool/software:

We have selected the TCAN2451-Q1 PMIC for one of our upcoming automotive product developments. After thoroughly reviewing the datasheets available on the Texas Instruments website, we observed that there is no specific information provided regarding functional safety or ASIL (Automotive Safety Integrity Level) compliance.

We kindly request your support in confirming whether this device is capable of meeting ASIL B or ASIL D requirements.

  • Hi Mownasabareeswaran,

This device is QM (quality managed) - but it isn't ASIL-B by itself. You typically can use this device in ASIL-B systems - but that would require additional redundant external monitors in addition to using this device.

  • Thank you Parker.

TI have any plan to release this device for ASIL B applications?

Any other similar parts available in TI with ASIL B safety?

  • Hi Mownasabareeswaran,

I am not at liberty to discuss future parts that haven't been publicly announced - but nothing in the short term future is going to be ASIL-B rated.

I am pretty sure TI has some ASIL-B parts - but not in SBCs or transceivers (which is where my expertise lies) - there may be some power parts that are - but I am not 100% sure on that. It may be worthwhile - if you need some power management that is ASIL-B or similar ratings to ask in the power forum as you will get much better expertise - but on the communication side it isn't really there yet.

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
