TCAN1145-Q1: Isolated CAN solution

Part Number: TCAN1145-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7741-Q1, UCC33020-Q1, ISO7742-Q1, ISO7741, ISO7041-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi expert,

My customer (CosMX) is looking for a low power Isolated CAN solution, they need to achieve <1mA quiescent current in sleep mode. And the current solution as below show, do you think it is the best solution? And how to realize lower power with this solution (Customer has tested the current quiescent current is 20mA)?

  • Current solution: TCAN1145-Q1 + ISO7741-Q1 + ISO7742-Q1 + UCC33020-Q1 (Isolate TXD, RXD, SPI, INH, WAKE. Do we need to isolate all 6 signals?).

Best Regards,

Ryker

  • Hi Ryker,

I can't comment on other parts, but the quiescent current of TCAN1145-Q1 in sleep mode is 35uA max, if they enabled the selective wakeup, when the bus is active it will consume additional 550uA. That being said, when the bus is idle the quiescent current consumed by transceiver is very low.

Please let the ISO team to evaluate current consumptions of ISO parts.

    Regards,

    Sean

  • Hello Sean,

The ISO7741 does not have a sleep function. ISO7041-Q1 would be an option for ultra-low power consumption digital isolators.
