TCAN2847-Q1: Connections for unused pins

Part Number: TCAN2847-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team - For the TCAN2847-Q1, how should we be connecting pins we aren't using. Below list is pins we are unsure we will be using, but might need in the future.

  • VEXCC
  • VEXMON
  • VEXCTRL
  • LIMP
  • VHSS
  • HSS1 – HSS1
  • GFO
  • nINT
  • SW
  • WAKE1 – WAKE3

Thanks,

Jacob

  • Hi Jacob,

    Please see below:

    • VEXCC
      • Can Leave Floating
    • VEXMON
      • Short to VSUP - no resistor between VSUP and VEXMON (the resistor would be needed if you end up using VEXCC)
    • VEXCTRL
      • Can Leave Floating
    • LIMP
      • Can Leave Floating
    • VHSS
      • This only provides the source voltage for HSS module - if you aren't using HSS module it doesn't really need to be used - but in general I'd still suggest you just short it to VSUP and add a 100nF capacitor to ground close to pin - that they can use HSS module at a later date - also I haven't seen any applications that don't connect VHSS even if they don't use HSS outputs - just from working with our board in lab I know you can leave it floating without much issue - but its still probably best to just short it to VSUP
    • HSS1 – HSS4
      • Can leave floating if unused
    • GFO
      • Can Leave Floating if Unused
    • nINT
      • Can Leave Floating if Unused
    • SW
      • Can leave floating - but I'd suggest pulling down to ground through resistor. This really is a debug pin - you would pull it high to turn off action due to missed watchdogs - which is very helpful during development - so I would have a pull down and an easy way to connect a high signal (high w.r.t. to VCC1) so you they can put the device in a more friendly state for development (watchdog is usually the last thing I'd suggest to implement in system since it can impact most every other function on device - it is better to get everything else working as needed first).
    • WAKE1 – WAKE3
      • Connect to GND if unused - it helps prevent parasitic wake up.

Please let me know if you need anything else and I will see what I can do!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
