TCAN1145-Q1: Layout design of common mode choke

Part Number: TCAN1145-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1044-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team

I have a customer, they are design the layout of TCAN1044-Q1 and TCAN1145-Q1.

I'd like to ask about the Layout design of common mode choke.

Do we need to hollow out the reference ground below the common-mode inductor?

Can you give me some suggestions on the optimal design of the common-mode inductor? Thanks~

  • Hi Jerry,

They can refer to our universal 14-pin EVM.

There is no special requirement on the CMC layout, it is not recommended to hollow out the reference GND under the choke (or the CAN signal traces)

When they are designing the footprints of CMC, make sure to keep CAN signal traces close to the same length, minimizing the offset that is added during turning by keeping the traces close together.

    Regards,
