My customer is looking for any kind of layout recommendation app note or checklist for FPD-Link? They are using the DS90UB941AS-Q1, DS90UB947, and DS90UB948. Anything you can provide would be very helpful.

Hi Jason,

For general layout recommendations, you can refer to the datasheet 'Layout' sections.

We also have channel specifications for our FPD3 and FPD4 devices (in their case, it is FPD3). You can request it here - sps16.itg.ti.com/.../start.aspx

We also have IBIS models that can be downloaded from the ti.com for the respective device.

Hi Esther,

Thank you for your response. I have requested access for the channel specifications information and shared with the customer the links you sent.

The customer mentioned that ADI has a massive document for how to layout and tune GMSL (which seems to be overly complicated according to the customer), so he wanted to see if we had anything similar.

He mentioned that he has already looked at the layout guidelines in the datasheet, but noted that they were showing via walls around the signals in the layout but did not see any sort of recommendations in the datasheet. This is what made him reach out to us thinking that we may have more complete guide/recommendations.

Hi Jason,

We do recommend via walls to enhance ground return paths and improve heat dissipation.

Also, I found some system-level and automotive-level ESD application notes that can also help with the design process.

We also do layout reviews after the customer has finished their layout (just submit an E2E).
