DS90UB933-Q1: [DS90UB933]Can the image signal of the display screen can be transmitted base on DS90UB933+DS90UB934?

Part Number: DS90UB933-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello TI,

We are making technical proposal for an RFQ project , and the target are two display.

Currently, we have a topic:

The project requires that thee two display connect with the ECU through two different serializers (ds90ub933 and ds90ub947).

My understanding, ds90ub933 is usually used as a camera image transmission.

So my question is if it is feasible?

If yes , is there any risk for it?

Thank you.

Best regards

Chunfu

  • Hello,

The DS90UB933 and DS90UB934 are typically used to transmit parallel camera data. For these devices, the SoC is typically connected to the deserializer. The DS90UB933 and DS90UB934 have parallel data interfaces, and can not support DSI, OLDI, or RGB. Using a DS90UB933 and DS90UB934 in a display is feasible, but only if a parallel data interface is used.

  • Hello Darrah,

    Thank you for your reply.

If this atypical way is applied, are there any precautions to avoid the risks?

    Best regards

    Chunfu

  • For the atypical application of having the SoC on the serializer side, the only thing to pay attention to is the I2C communications and ensure that all the system devices are able to be initialized properly from the SoC through the serializer.

For the atypical application of using a DSI, OLDI, or RGB interface, these devices do not support these interfaces and any behavior when used in this way can not be determined. It is not recommended to operate the DS90UB933 or DS90UB934 in a non-parallel data interface.

If a DSI, OLDI, or RGB interface is needed for the RFQ, it is recommended to use a device from the IVI portfolio like the DS90UB947. The IVI devices are designed to support display applications and these data interfaces.
