Hi Gordon,
The level of IEC61000-4-5 protection you need is dependent on your application. Can you share any details on your end equipment?
Regards,
Sebastian
Hi Sebastian,
Thanks for your response,
The end equipment is a outdoor Wifi-6e AP. I want to put the TPD1E0B04 between the antenna and RF front-end.
Hi Gordon,
Are you following any standards for this design such as IEE802.11? Also would this be a power over ethernet application?
I don't have access to this standard but perhaps your outdoor access point falls under a certain end equipment category with transient requirements specified for IEC 61000-4-5 and IEC 61000-4-2.
Regards,
Sebastian
Hi Sebastian,
yes, it's follow WiFi 6e standard and it don't use POE. we use a external Ac/ DC adapter.
I just wnat ti use TPD1E0B04 to protect the RF input,
Please check the datasheet spec. "IEC61000-4-5 1.7A." and meet what level , 0.5KV, 1KV, 2kV, 4KV (IEC 61000-4-5 ) ??
Hi Gordon,
This doesn't meet any of the standard levels in IEC61000-4-5 except for small sensor applications.
Here's a snippet from our Demystifying Surge Protection App Note

TPD1E0B04 is suitable to protect the RF input, as long as you don't need higher Ipp than 1.7A or higher 8kV IEC 61000-4-2.

Sebastian
Hi Sebastian,

IEC61000-4-5 show the source generator max. impedance is 42 ohm , it havn't "small sensor" type.
OR, my IEC61000-4-5 standard is old version ; 2005-11?
Could you share any example of TI TINA simulation tool for IEC61000-4-5 design??
Hi Gordon,
The 40Ohm probably applies to the RF input unless otherwise stated in the Wifi6e standard.
I don't have a spice model of a IEC61000-4-5 modell handy, but this is a system level test where PCB parisitics and other components will infuence the results. It is recommended to conduct this testing with IEC61000-4-5 generators on your actual PCB.

Sebastian
