Subject: Request for Technical Support – USB Hub IC for Android OTG Applications
Dear Texas Instruments Technical Support Team,
My name is Hiếu, and I am currently developing a hardware design that uses a USB hub to expand a USB connection from an Android phone to multiple peripheral devices (such as a mouse, keyboard, etc.).
During testing, I used the USB2514B IC (from Microchip), which functions well when connected to a computer. However, it does not operate correctly when connected to an Android phone in OTG mode—even though I have ensured proper external power, 5.1 kΩ pull-down on CC1, bus-powered override configuration, and appropriate RESET_N delay.
Therefore, I would like to request your recommendation and guidance on selecting a USB hub IC from Texas Instruments that meets the following criteria:
-
Operates reliably with Android phones in OTG mode
-
Supports 4 downstream USB ports
-
Consumes current appropriately from the phone’s VBUS
-
Easy to configure (via strap pins or I²C/EEPROM if needed)
-
Comes with reference materials: application schematics, layout guidelines, and important design considerations for Android compatibility
Thank you in advance for your support. I look forward to your suggestions.
Best regards,
Hiếu
