TPS62872-Q1: OV and UV disable?

Part Number: TPS62872-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62872

Tool/software:

Can TPS62872 disable the OV and UV ? This is fix value OV and UV threshold?

  • Hello Jing,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

There's no option in the current version of the device to disable the Power Good function. Of course, you can leave it floating if they don't need it (only possible in a standalone converter).

In additional, the undervoltage and overvoltage thresholds cannot be changed. If the application needs a different level of thresholds, you can also use an external supervisory IC to monitor the output voltage that fits to the your requirements.

What is the application requirements on the undervoltage and overvoltage thresholds? What is the end equipment?

    Best regards,

  • Hello Regidor

Thanks for quick reply. If float the Pgood pin, I think the OV and UV will impact the behavior of output anyway. In the current hardware structure the supervisor  power IC is monitoring all the power rail OV and UV, we do not expect there is any conflict  on the output except supervisor  power IC take over control.

  • Hello Jing,

    Thanks for the feedback.

Can you kindly reconfirm your statement? If PGOOD is left floating, will it impact the output? Or the application?

Not connecting the PGOOD doesn't influence the output voltage behavior at any way. However, expect that the Status Register will flag any event where the Vout goes above or below the regulation threshold (see table below). If this data is ignored, and your system relies on the external supervisor to monitor the status of the output voltage, then I don't expect any issue with it.

Would you mind I send you an email so we can discuss this topic in details offline?

    Best regards,

  • OK pls send me the mail offline.

  • Hi Jing,

Noted. I will send you an email in a while.

By the way, I close this thread now.
