TXG8042-Q1: RMII, MDC, MDIO isolation

Part Number: TXG8042-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXG8042, TXG8122

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I would like to separate GND from SoC and 100Baset-T1 PHY IC for RMII and MDC/MDIO interface line.

I found TXG8042-Q1 (automotive Q100 is mandatory), but it only support full duplex I/O and which could not support MDIO.

Could you please advise your recommended configuration to separate GND of RMII and MDC/MDIO signal?

regards,

  • Hello,

Currently TXG8042 is for CMOS push pull devices for SPI/UART. We also have TXG8122 which is for open-drain applications but specifically for I2C. We do not have anything specifically for RMII/MDC/MDIO signal at this time.

Is there a ground potential difference between the SoC and the PHY IC?

    Thanks,

    Sadia

  • Hi Sadia-san,

Yes, there is a ground potential difference between SoC and PHY.
It seems it can be used for RMII signal, but there is a challenge in MDIO, is my understanding correct?

is there recommended devices in isolation interface portfolio?

    regards,

  • Hi Tsuji-san,

I see that you have sent an email out regarding this concern- let me close the thread and we will follow up via email.

    Thanks,

    Jack
