Could you please confirm whether this transceiver supports RS-485 half-duplex communication in auto mode?

Hi Yovel,

The device itself does not have internal registers to automatically do this for you.

In Half duplex mode, if you connect DTR/RTS pin to the DIR pin, then if the processor/MCU that uses those pins in that Auto Data Direction Control or Automatic Flow Control mode it could switch between driver and receive modes. Essentially the DIR pin is like an RS485 DE/RE# pin that's been shorted together.

The THVD1406/THVD1426 is an RS-4xx transceiver with auto-direction control.
There is no such transceiver that also has RS-232 support.

As Clemens pointed out we only have THVD1406/1426 as devices that can do auto direction.

Most MCU's will have an auto direction for UART which you just tie RTS or DTR to the RS485 DE/RE pins....
