DS90LV049Q-Q1: Short to battery and ESD protection

Part Number: DS90LV049Q-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB501, TPD1E01B04-Q1, TPD4E02B04-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello team,

We are using DS90LV049Q-Q1 for SPI communication between two systems. We have a requirement of Short to battery(18V) protection and ESD protection on this IO pins. Can you please suggest us a solution.

Will the above suggested solution can be used in our application. if yes, can you suggest us the AC coupling capacitor value.

Best Regards

  • Hi Srikanth,

Yes, you can implement the AC-coupling solution like TUSB501. Just be sure to put the ESD diode behind the capacitor to protect it from the short. If the receiver is not self biased, you will also need to add a common mode bias network at the receiver end of the bus (refer to How to Terminate LVDS Connections with DC and AC Coupling for details).

For ESD diodes, TPD1E01B04-Q1 or TPD4E02B04-Q1 should suffice. For the capacitor value, a 0.1 uF AC capacitor should work for speeds above 1 Mbps.

    Regards,

    Matt
