TMUXHS4212: Regarding the CC controller/PD controller used in conjunction with the TMUXHS4212

Hi team,

The customer is considering using the TMUXHS4212, and is also evaluating a controller to pair with this MUX.

Ideally, they are looking for a PD controller with PD functionality, but so far they have only found options like the TUSB422.

However, since the TUSB422 communicates via I2C, it cannot be connected directly to the SEL pin of the TMUXHS4212.

Are there any other PD controllers that can be used in this setup?

Also, regarding CC controllers that can be used with the TMUXHS4212, is it correct to assume that the available lineup includes the TUSB320 series, TUSB321 series, and TUSB322 series?

Hi Kyohei,

If you are only looking for mux flipping functionality, the TUSB321 and TUSB322 would both be able to support these use cases. These devices have DIR pins that communicate the orientation of the type-C port, which can be used with the SEL pin of the TMUXHS4212.

If you need PD controller functionality however, we don't have any PD controllers with that functionality in our product line.
