Hi team,

Do you have any suggestions as automotive grade equivalent to AM26LV31E? I am using it to convert single ended UART signal to differential so that I can pass the UART signal to a longer distance.

Hi Di,

Do you need 4 channels to do this? (Am26LV31E is quad channel).

All of our automotive qualified RS485 transceivers are here: https://www.ti.com/product-category/interface/rs-485-rs-422-transceivers/products.html#-1=Q1%3Bfalse&

I would probably look at 1780 if you don't need to go faster than 115kbps. Otherwise I would look at 1781.

If you need multiple channels, we only have single channel devices that are automotive qualified so you would need to use multiple in parallel.

I need 3 channels, TX, RX and Control. I just need single ended signal to differential signal converter like AM25LV31E, automotive grade.

You'll need to use 3x of one of the devices in the list I provided if automotive qualified is a must. You can use the DE/RE pins to set them as driver or receiver only (Tx for driver and Rx for receiver).

We don't have a 3x channel RS485 automotive qualified device.

As far as speed, currently it is running at 4Mbps, give or take. So something like this will be super helpful. Thank you very much.

At that speed, you will need to look at either the SN65LBC176-Q1 or SN65HVD1782-Q1

The 1782 can support wider abs max ratings on the differential pins and supports 5V and 3.3V. The 176 is going to be more cost competitive. Both support 10Mbps so they can handle the 4Mbps requirement you have.

I see. Is there anything simpler - instead of a RS485 transceiver, do we have automotive grade version of AM26LV31E?

Unfortunately not. We only have single channel RS485 devices that are automotive qualified. AM26LV31E would technically not work for your application anyways if you are trying to receive a differential signal (Rx) since this device is an output driver only.
