Hi expert,
Is there any special attentions for C2, C6, C7 in CAN FD application compared to 2Mbps CAN? There is no value description in TCAN1043DEVM user's guide.

Hi Beida,
C2 and C7 are just filtering capacitors. They are left unpopulated on the EVM for various setups and testing purposes. These are not required
C6 is part of the split termination configuration with R9 and R14. If termination is used, then C6 should be valued at 4.7nF (our typical recommendation). This is explained in the split termination section of our CAN guide: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/sloa101b/sloa101b.pdf However if termination is not necessary at this CAN node, then C6 can be unpopulated.
Let me know if that answers your question,

Hi Ethan,
Thanks for your support!
I review our EMC test report. Report list performance w/o 100uH CMC. For 2Mbit/s, 50uH maybe a better choice. Why we chose 100uH to test rather than 50uH?
Beida,
We don't have control over the CMC value for the IBEE EMC testing. This is chosen by the test house and is part of the specification for emissions compliance.

Eric Hackett
Hi Beida,
It depends on the rest of the CMC specifications but in general either work just fine at 2Mbps. I would lean towards 100uH since it has stronger common mode noise suppression over the 51uH.
Best,
Ethan
