DS90UB971-Q1: DS90UB960-Q1 EVM via connect DS90UB971-Q1 serializer

Hi Team.,

We have used the DS90UB960-Q1 EVM board connected to the DS90UB953-Q1 serializer board, and the I²C is detected successfully. However, when we connect the DS90UB971-Q1 serializer board, the I²C is not detected.

I have checked the DS90UB971-Q1 datasheet, and it mentions that the compatible deserializer is the DS90UB960-Q1.

We have also designed a DS90UB960-Q1 deserializer board compatible with the TI TDA4VM development kit, and in this setup, we observe the same behavior.

Could you please help us understand why the DS90UB971-Q1 serializer is not detected? Is there any serializer software setting or datasheet section that covers this?

I have attached the image file for Deserializer and serializer EVM setup for ALP application.

    Hello,

    Thank you for reaching out. The issue is likely that the 971 serializer mode pin is not selecting the correct mode. The mode is set based on the voltage seen on the mode pin at start up. On EVMs different modes can be selected by shorting the correct pins on the board's mode select jumper. Please double check the mode setting, to be compatible with a 960 a backwards compatible FPD3 mode setting is needed. Additionally, if you have not already, the 971 has its own ALP profile which can be downloaded along with the data sheet and EVM Users Guide. If you have difficulty finding and downloading any of these files, you can reach out to your local field representative for help setting up your account.

    Hi Darrah Merillat.,

    We have changed the serializer mode setting configuration to Synchronous Mode 0. After this change, the 971 serializer I²C is detected in the 960 deserializer EVM development board.
