TCA8418E: I2C to GPIO Expander Recommendation Request

A customer is looking for a replacement for the SX1508B (SEMTECH) attached below.

The requirements are as follows:

[Requirements]
- I2C to GPIO Expander
- At least 7 GPIO channels required
- A component capable of general GPIO and PWM control

I checked the TCA8418E through TI_CrossReference, but it doesn't seem to have PWM control capabilities.

Can you recommend a component that meets the above requirements?

    Hi Grady,

    Our current I2C portfolio does not support all 3 requirements listed, mostly for the PWM control. Closest device could be TCA8418E like you have listed, or something like TCAL6416 which is dual supply, 16-bit I2C to gpio expander w/ external RESET and interrupt pin. Both TCA8418E and TCAL6416 do not have PWM capability. 

    A device like TCA6507 does have PWM output control, however, P0-P6 are all outputs and cannot be configured as inputs. A two chip solution would have to occur here to fulfill all the desired requirements. 

    This looks to be a gap in our portfolio, if you would like, I can loop in one of our fae's over email to begin discussion on this business case / future roadmap for a device for PWM control. PWM has been requested in the past from several engineers.
