DS90LV048A: Short to Battery Protection

I seen a solution in forum for the IC TUSB501-Q1 where ac coupling capacitor are connected in series after the TVS diode to protect from short to battery. I want to ask the differential signal is shifted AC signal if the capacitor connected in series it blocks the DC signal. My LVDS signal common mode voltage decrease to 0V right. But you mentioned we can use. Is there any application notes where they are using the AC coupling capacitor.

Hi Javal,

Yes AC-coupled LVDS is fairly common, especially if you are trying to block higher voltage DC like a short-to-battery event. You just have to make sure to have a common mode bias at the receiver end if the receiver is not self biased or has a wide common mode. See Figure 3, 4, 5, and 6 in How to Terminate LVDS Connections with DC and AC Coupling for details.
