TMDS141: Noticed Flickering and Blackout

Part Number: TMDS141

Tool/software:

Dear Team,

System Overview:

We have attached a block diagram outlining the subsystem architecture. The signal flow is as follows:

  • A video signal originates from the Olympus S7000 system.
  • This signal is routed through a Blackmagic SDI to HDMI 3G converter via an SDI cable.
  • The HDMI output from the converter is then fed into the TMDS141 IC, which is integrated on our FPGA board.
  • The board provides two HDMI outputs, each connected to a 4K monitor using HDMI cables. Cable lengths are specified in the attached diagram.

Issue Observed:
We are experiencing intermittent flickering and complete blackouts on both monitors simultaneously across multiple systems. The issue varies between brief flickers and prolonged signal loss.

Questions:

  • Is the TMDS141 IC appropriate for handling this type of HDMI signal transmission?
  • Are the HDMI cable lengths within the supported range for this IC?
  • What could be the primary cause of the flickering and blackout behavior associated with this IC?

We appreciate your guidance in resolving this issue.
