TCAN1044A-Q1: CAN /CAN FD Physical Layer

My customer Bosch are using TCAN1044AVDRQ1 for their projetcs.

They wonder if TCAN1044AVDRQ1 can meet CAN /CAN FD Physical Layer - HW Generic requirements below?

CAN:

  1. Bit rate tolerance shall apply over all periods between 2 and 13 bit times.
  2. The interface implementation must meet the round trip delay requirement in ISO11898-2 [Ext CAN PL 4]. The Round Trip Delay in the CAN interface must be not longer than 255ns.

 CAN FD

  1. Network transmission speed tolerance shall apply over all periods between 2 and 13 bit times.
  2. The interface implementation must meet the round trip delay requirement in ISO11898-2 [Ext CAN PL 4]. The Round Trip Delay in the CAN FD interface must be not longer than 255ns.

    Yes, please help see the data sheets’s first page clarifying the device supports both CAN and CAN FD. Also see the switching characteristics for loop delay of 255 ns max. 

    The “2–13 bit periods” language is usually a system-level check (controller + transceiver + cabling/isolators). TCAN1044AVDRQ1’s tight loop delay and symmetry gives margin. Hence, customers can complete the budget with the CAN controller’s oscillator tolerance and the harness delay to close the requirement, thanks.
