DS90UB960-Q1: Working with FDP LINK III over coax in harsh EMC standards environment

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Tool/software:

We are using DS90UB960WRTDTQ1 for connecting a MIPI camera to a Jetson device over long distance.

Using RG316 coax cable, with SMA on one side, and a multiple coax pins connector on the Jetson side.

We have challenges overcoming a harsh EMC standard due to the Coax cable  radiating strongly (probably from from its shield).

What ways can be used to lower the radiated signal to pass a Radiated Emission test with low thresholds?

  • Hello Ido,

or connecting a MIPI camera to a Jetson device over long distance.

    What is the distance?

Using RG316 coax cable, with SMA on one side, and a multiple coax pins connector on the Jetson side.

Do you mean that you are using the Coax cables to connect the MIPI CSI-2 output from the UB960 to the Jetson MIPI CSI-2 inputs?

What CSI rate per lane are you using?

What is the REFCLK frequency used on the UB960? Do you have the datasheet for this Oscillator?

How did you make sure that the RE issue is coming from the CSI-2 interface, not from the Camera to DES link?

  • Hi  .

The intended distance is up to 15 meters.

The RG316 coax cable is used for the FPD LINK to connect between the serializer and deserializer.

The serializer is on the camera side connected to the camera sensor MIPI.

The deserializer is on the Jetson side onboard its carrier board, connected to the Jetson over MIPI.

We want to utilize the full FPD LINK available rate (~4Gbps).

The RE issue is definitely coming from the FPD LINK interface and not from the MIPI CSI, since the MIPI CSI is inside a metal chassis. This was also verified using a near field probe.

    Thanks for the support.

  • Hi Ido,

Can you share a picture of your setup in the chamber?

Also, can you share the failing test results? Which frequency range is failing?

What is the EMC standard you are testing against?
