Hi TI Team,
Kindly share the maximum junction temperature for the LVDS IC, it is not explicitly mentioned in the datasheet.
We need it to precisely run a thermal simulation

Hi Garima,
The max junction temp can be found using the equation provided in this app note: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/spra953d/spra953d.pdf?ts=1756399387279
The relevant variables should all be in the datasheet, the main dependent is the amount of power being used.
Please let me know if there are any other questions.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
Yes, we made this calculation for our maximum dissipation number to get the Tjmax.
Further we require, Operating junction temperature which is usually mentioned under absolute maximum ratings of semiconductor packages.
For an instance see the below snap from SN65HV233,

The same is not found in the SN65LVDS100 specification sheet so please provide.

Garima R.
Hi Ryan,
Also checked that the details on thermal resistance are limited to Rthja while Rthjb and Rthjc are being provided in the spec sheet, could you provide that as well.
Regards,
Garima R.
Hi Garima,
Let me reach out internally to see where we have this information, and I will try to get back to you by the EOD Tuesday, 9/2.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Garima,
The absolute max junction temp is 150C. That's the absolute max however, as we cannot guarantee functionality past the recommended 85C temperature range the device is spec'd for.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hello Ryan,
Thanks for the clarification, Kindly share any report or case where in malfunctionality observed with this IC's junction temperature exceeding its operating temperature range of 85C but still lesser than maximum junction of 150C. If this has been tested by TI it will be helpful.
Also how about the thetajb & thetajc since it has not been available in spec sheet, can you help with the detail?

We do not have any report for malfunctions outside the recommended temperature range. These failures are unpredictable, so it's hard to say exactly what failures you would see in this temperature range.
Also how about the thetajb & thetajc since it has not been available in spec sheet, can you help with the detail?
Thetajc top is 56.4, Thetajc bottom n/a, ThetaJB is 83.6.
Thanks,
Ryan
