Will this part work in a configuration where the USB-C is being used as a display port?

Additionally, is there a recommended switch chip to pair with this? Does it simply detect the orientation of the cable, or does it also steer the signals where they need to go?

Hi Jeffrey,

For DP Alt-mode applications, it is required to use a PD controller, which needs to be used to help negotiate DP alt-mode over the CC lines and type-C connection. This part only works with USB3 SS over type-C.

I would also recommend looking at our muxes, as depending on the needed data rate, different muxes may work while others won't. We also have different redriver muxes which may fit your application, like the TUSB546 or TUSB564.
