We can answer any design and technical questions here. 

To program the device, you can use the DSI tuner GUI to enter the configurations. Then you would need to program the registers via I2C. The EVM user guide also has information about the hardware setup.

Yes there is a test pattern mode that can be enabled, as mentioned in the datasheet (section "7.3.3 LVDS Pattern Generation").

To enable test pattern with the display resolution that matches the output, please use the DSI tuner tool we mentioned earlier. It's a GUI that you can install. Have you downloaded and installed it yet?

The guide we shared earlier has an example of how to enter the settings, and it will generate the initialization register settings. Then you can write those register settings to the IC registers via I2C.

1. If you check the test pattern option, then the output CSR register settings list will include a register write that enabled test pattern.

So after you enter the timings and settings for panel inputs and DSI inputs, it will go to the output panel. And you can then download the register settings list.

The list will contain all the register settings that you would have to program via I2C.

Please use this app note. You will find in section "2.5 Control and Status Registers (CSR)" that it outputs a register settings list.
