Hi,

In the screenshot captured from the Mux's datasheet, it discusses the distances required for the mux to maintain signal integrity between the Host and USBC Receptacle. Are there any sources of information expanding on this? Like how drastically the integrity of signals is distorted when creating more distance between the Mux and the Host, or if there are ways to extend that distance?

Hi Jack,

These lengths are suggested based on the estimated amount of loss per inch with FR4 PCB material. For any length greater than this, compounded with any connectors or other factors that may affect the loss of the signal, it may make it more difficult for the redriver to successfuly compensate the signal for the amount of loss accrued between the redriver and the connector, or the SOC and the redriver.

As such, we provide guidelines based on our estimates as to what length we recommend for layout routing.
