LSF0204: Does LSF0204 support hot-swap?

Part Number: LSF0204

Tool/software:

Does LSF0204 support hot-swap?

  • That depends on your definition of "hot-swap". Is it the LSF0204 itself or only the other devices that are powered down and hot-swapped? What do you want to happen when some device is (un)plugged? When exactly should that happen?

The LSF isolates the two sides only if the EN pin is forced low.

  • Hello Cain,

Our apps team is current out today celebrating Labor Day (US Holiday). Allows us two days to respond back. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Hi Clemens,
Thanks for your replys, We are using LSF0204 to Isolate GPIO signal, and place it between the connector and SOC. A key requirment here is that  the connector  needs to support hot-swap---meaning it may be unplugged or plugged  in while the device is  power on.

  • Hi Cain,

Similar to Clemens' response, the LSF can be used for hot-swap application if the bus is being connected properly (order should be ground, VCC, and then data).

Please keep in mind that hot-swap application typically involves longer traces and connector lengths- since the LSF0204 is a passive translator with no buffering it will not be able to redrive the signals through higher capacitances.
