SN65LVDT2 Tjit ( residual Jiter ) Spec

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVDT2, SN65LVDS4, SN65LVDS2, SN65LVDS32

I see that the SN65LVDS4 has a Tjit ( Residual jitter added ) spec in the RECEIVER SWITCHING CHARACTERISTICS section of it's data sheet, while the SN65LVDT2 does not.

Why is it specified for one member of the family but not another?  Is this spec available for the SN65LVDT2?

Please see the following links:

SN65LVDS4 datasheet, RECEIVER SWITCHING CHARACTERISTICS section on page 5: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/sn65lvds4.pdf

SN65LVDT2 datasheet RECEIVER SWITCHING CHARACTERISTICS section on page 6: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/sn65lvdt2.pdf

Thank you.

Bryan Busacco.

  • Bryan,

SN65LVDS4 and SN65LVDT2 were developed many years apart so there are differences in the specification especially for items such as jitter that may have required special testing equipment that may not have been readily available in the time frame the device was developed.  We currently do not have the residual jitter data for the SN65LVDT2 device. If you are trying to determine jitter budget in terms of how far you can transmit over a certain type of media, then you may want to look at the page 16 of the SN65LVDS32 data sheet.  SN65LVDS32 and SN65LVDS2 are expected to have comparable jitter performance. SN65LVDS32 data sheet was updated with example eye diagrams as well.
