TUSB9261: Windows driver update

Part Number: TUSB9261
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB9260

Tool/software:

I am trying to get a device using a TUSB9261 to work on a windows PC over USB 2.0. The device is recognised in the device manager as "TUSB9261 Boot Loader" in other devices.

I have tried using the TUSB926x Flash burner program to update the firmware but I get the error "Flashburner driver installation failed. Please manually install the device driver."

I have tried following the instructions on page 31 of the flash burner user guide (sllu125d.pdf) to manually install the driver but Windows will not recognise the driver.

By the way, I just upgraded my Windows system, and the problem mentioned above occurred right after the upgrade. The version number after my upgrade is Windows 11, version 24H2

Can anyone offer assistance on how to install the correct driver?

Thanks

  • Hi Chongyu,

Just to confirm, you are running the flashburner installer with admin rights correct? Does the process seem similar to what is in the users guide, when does the failure occur in the flashburner installation process?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • My permissions and the installation process were all correct. In fact, if I roll back to a previous Windows version, it still works properly. But I have to update my Windows to use some related functions.
After updating Windows and finding that burner couldn't be used, I reinstalled burner. The installation process and permissions were correct, but it still couldn't be used. It prompted me that it couldn't find the driver, and then a yellow exclamation mark appeared in the device manager.

  • Hi Chongyu,

Could you try restarting your PC with startup settings, and selecting "7) Disable driver signature enforcement", and then reinstalling the driver while in this mode and seeing if that helps?: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-startup-settings-1af6ec8c-4d4a-4b23-adb7-e76eef0b847f

It's possible this is an error due to the driver not being updated to match the current windows settings. Please let me know if that helps.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Thank you for your reply. I made the Settings according to the method you suggested, but unfortunately, the previous error still appeared.

  • Hi Chongyu,

I can try to replicate this on my side, though currently I have not heard of this being an issue on this version of windows.

In device manager on the TUSB9260 boot loader, can you go to "Update device", select "browse my computer for drivers", and then select "let me pick from a list of available drivers", no TUSB9261 driver appears, correct?

Is there any way you can use a windows 10 PC to install the flash burner, flash the TUSB9261, and then use it on the windows 11 system?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • After I selected "let me pick from a list of available drivers", there is only one driver about TI as the picture shown.  Do you mean this one?

If I use a windows 10 PC, it could work well. But I'm reprogramming the firmware, I will burn so many times a day. It's very inconvenient for me.

    Thanks for your reply.

  • Hi Chongyu,

There should typically be another driver, it should not be one for debug probes.

I tried installing the flash burner onto a windows 11 PC on version 24H2 and can confirm that there is no issue on our side, with the EVM enumerating in the flash burner tool. It looks like the flash burner driver was installed with no issue, and I can verify this with our EVM. At what step of the installer does the process fail? Does the installer get to the point where it asks to trust Texas Instruments when installing the driver?

    Thanks,

    Ryan
