DS160PT801X16EVM: DS160PT801X16EVM

Part Number: DS160PT801X16EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS160PT801, DS160PR410

Tool/software:

We ordered  DS160PT801X16EVM  and received the same.

Few questions:

  • Is it possible to connect the EVM card directly to an Intel x86 motherboard and interface a NIC card via the CEM socket?
  • Will the retimer board function correctly with its default factory programming, or is additional configuration required

Thanks and regards,

Prashanth Pai B

  • Hi Prashanth,

Is it possible to connect the EVM card directly to an Intel x86 motherboard and interface a NIC card via the CEM socket?

The EVM has a riser card form factor where the bottom of the board has a PCIe x16 gold finger and the top of the board has a PCIe x16 CEM connector. If the motherboard has a x16 CEM connector, the EVM should be able to fit into it. If the NIC card has a PCIe gold finger, it should be able to fit into the top of the EVM.

Will the retimer board function correctly with its default factory programming, or is additional configuration required

I believe the EVM's EEPROM unit is flashed with a basic configuration out of the factory that should allow basic link-up. Have you requested and obtained access to the DS160PT801 Secure Resources folder from the link on the product page? You will need the device information in the full DS160PT801 datasheet as well as the GUI software in order to understand the retimer configuration and make any changes.

  • I'm trying to install the application "Texas Instruments SigCon Architect EVM GUI Setup" to connect an EVM via USB. However, I'm encountering an error—even after installing LVRTE2012_f3Patch-64std. Could you please share the exact LabVIEW Runtime Engine file required for proper installation?

  • Hi Prashanth,

Which location did you download SigCon Architect from? Some installers for it on TI.com do not contain the LabVIEW RTE. The ZIP file in the DS160PT801 secure folder does contain the RTE as well as the DS160PT801 profile. If your current installer doesn't mention RTE in the filename, you can try uninstalling it, and then using the secure folder installer.

  • Installed

    Dear TI Support Team,

We have installed SigCon Architect version 3.0.0.14 and attempted to bring up the DS160PT801x16 EVM. However, we encountered the following error:

"Invalid Address or Device Not Active!!" PFA the screen shot FYR

Could you please confirm whether version 3.0.0.16 is required for proper operation with this EVM? If so, we kindly request access to the installer for SigCon Architect v3.0.0.16 and the appropriate device profile for the DS160PT801.

If the issue is unrelated to the software version, we would appreciate your guidance in identifying the root cause of this error.

    Thank you for your support.

    Best regards,

  • Please help us on above issue

  • Hi Prashanth,

    - To clarify, please use the following software to avoid the initial error with the system unable to locate the run-time engine:

SIGCONARCHITECT3-WRTE  Texas Instruments SigCon Architect EVM GUI v3 Setup with RTE

    - In your screenshot, what device profile do you have selected? it looks like the current selection says DS160PR410. This is what my SigCon Architect GUI looks like for the device:

    Best regards,
