THVD1400V: 1.2V Logic Level RS-485/RS-422 transceiver

Part Number: THVD1400V

Product Specs:

Hi,

I am looking for an RS-485/RS422 transceiver that can work off 1.2V logic level. The lowest I have come across is TI's THVD1400V which supports VIO down to 1.65V. But with VIH min = 70% of VIO, this would not reliably support 1.2V logic level with tolerances factored in.

Does TI know of any part that can work down to 1.2V VIO levels?

Thanks!

  • Hi Steve,

We don't have a device that can work down to that logic level yet. I think right now you would need to use a normal RS485 transceiver and pair it with a level translator that can work down to 1.2V.

We have seen some requests for it, I've let our new product development team know about your request. Could you provide more information so in the future they may be able to look into this?

    1) what is the end application? (MRI machine, printer, tractor, ect...)

    2) what max speed/datarate is required?

    3) why was RS485 chosen? (Why not LVDS, CAN, or RS232 for example)

    4) Are you seeing an industry level need for lower voltage down to something like 0.8V?

    5) What exactly is interfacing with the RS485 transceiver that needs 1.2V

    6) any other requirements? (low Icc current, small package, super low cost, certain ESD needed, ect.)
