DS320PR810: placement of RX redriver

Part Number: DS320PR810

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I have been told that for TX redriver pre-channel and post-channel  ratio should be 4:1 to be  close as endpoint as possible,

but how about RX redriver,  what's our general guide for upstream redriver placement considering the linearity of DS320PR810?

  • Hi Fred,

In general, the placement should be relatively close to the upstream device Rx.  I'm not sure where the 4:1 reference is derived from, but seems reasonable (3:1 or 4:1), the redriver should be placed to recover most of the channel loss (Up to to the redriver EQ limit) as it passes the Tx equalization through(Unlike a limited redriver).  Placement is system dependent so I'm not sure we can provide an exact placement recommendation.
