DP83869HM: Please define the criteria for choosing the RESET_N resistor and capacitor values

Part Number: DP83869HM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83869

Tool/software:

Dear TI,

We have several sandwiched boards, one of which contains your DP83869HM PHY.  We are using the suggested 100 ohm resistor and 47uF capacitor on the RESET_N line.

The problem is the capacitor is too tall to fit within the board stack.

I see two options:

1.  Split the 47uF into several shorter, smaller value capacitors in parallel.

2.  If it is only the RC time constant that matters, increase the resistor value, and decrease the capacitor value to achieve the same RC time constant.  But I do not know if there is a reason for choosing a 47uF capacitor, or should we just concern ourselves with the same RC time constant.

Can you comment on if it is possible to increase R and decrease C to achieve the same reset time without any unforeseen secondary effects?

Thank you!
