TPS62230: TPS62230 Startup Time for Cyclone 10 LP FPGA Application

Hi,

I am currently considering using the TPS62230 as a 2.5 V supply for an Altera Cyclone 10 LP FPGA (VCCIO = 2.5 V).
According to the FPGA requirements, the supply voltage must ramp up within 50 µs to 3 ms.

To ensure compatibility, I would like to confirm the following points:

  1. Based on the datasheet, the soft-start time of TPS62230 (EN high → VOUT reaching nominal voltage) is typically about 100 µs. Could you please clarify the minimum and maximum expected range for this parameter?

  2. Is it correct to assume that TPS62230 can reliably meet the FPGA requirement of 50 µs to 3 ms ramp-up time?

  3. If EN is tied directly to VIN, is it correct that the startup delay will include the time for VIN to rise above the EN threshold before the ~100 µs soft-start begins?

Your confirmation on the above points would be highly appreciated, as we need to ensure that TPS62230 is a suitable choice for this application.

Thank you very much for your support.

  • Hi Conor,

    Thanks for using E2E.

    1. Unfortunately we don't have min/max values for the soft-start time available for this device.

    2. We cannot guarantee the ramp-up time below 3ms.

    3. If you connect EN to VIN the VUVLO (1.9V typ) level is the starting point of the output voltage, not the EN threshold which is much lower.

    Best regards,
    Sepp

  • Hi Sepp,

I understand that only typical values are specified for the TPS62230.
Are there any other TI products that meet the Cyclone 10 LP power supply requirements (start-up time within 50µs to 3ms, Vout=2.5V)?

    Thanks,

    Conor
