SN65DSI83-Q1: MIPI®︎ DSI to Single-Link LVDS Bridge

Part Number: SN65DSI83-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

In one of our application we are using TI Make MIPI® DSI to Single-Link LVDS Bridge details below

Part No : SN65DSI83TPAPRQ1

In one of our customized developed unit, when LVDS display interfaced observed display flickering (Display directly connected to board display connector)

When the LVDS Bridge IC (SN65DSI83TPAPRQ1) replaced with new IC, the issue was resolved.

Verified interfaces, voltages rails, other passive components - didn't observed any issues.

Please let me know what is the root cause for display flickering and How LVDS bridge will cause for it.

Attached is the application circuit for reference.

Thank you

Regards,

Gopala

  • Hi Gopala,

Could you please tell us more about the system:

    a. What was the resolution and pixel clock frequency? And was the clock using external REFCLK or DSI clock as source?

    b. Was the system tested with internal test pattern? Did it show flickering with test pattern as well?

    c. Were there any errors shown on register 0xE5?

    d. Did the system follow the datasheet "7.4.4 Initialization Sequence"? This includes settings for DSI clock settings. During initialization, how was the register configuration generated? You can use the DSI tuner tool to enter the configuration and get the register settings.

Typically, flickering display could be due to timing mismatch from DSI source, or LVDS output not matching the DSI83 config or display timing requirements. Otherwise it could be system level issues with DSI source clock SI issues, jitter, etc.

As a first step to narrow down the root cause, we would recommend using the test pattern and checking if it still causes the issue.

    Best regards,
    Ikram
