TCAN844-Q1: Abs Vdiff difference between TCAN844-Q1 and TCAN1044A-Q1

Part Number: TCAN844-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1044A-Q1,

Tool/software:

Hi Expert,

As you can see, TCAN844-Q1 abs max Vdiff is ±12V, TCAN1044A-Q1 is ±45V. Customer is using TCAN844 to take place TCAN1044A. They has a concern for below question:

  1. whether TCAN844 has a weak protection for Vdiff? Or whether ±12V is enough for Vdiff protection?
  2. What's the difference between Vbus and Vdiff?  Vbus is the voltage relative to GND?

  • Hi Beida,

    1. Yes, TCAN844 is recommended for 12 V applications and this is okay. Please note that the data sheet is also being updated as it was verified to concerns to spec up to 40 V.

    2. Vbus is the acceptable voltage on either CANH or CANL while Vdiff is the acceptable voltage difference between them I.e., CANH - CANL, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.
