DS90UB941AS-Q1: When running the margin test with the ALP program, is it true that all green is correct?

Part Number: DS90UB941AS-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP, USB2ANY

Tool/software:

We performed a margin test using the ALP program and obtained the following results.

Is it true that all green is correct? (Cable length : 2M)

There is no difference between cable lengths of 2M and 1M.

Cable Spec : LD5-101-XXXX-Y-Y

  • Hi Choi,

It is possible if the hardware configuration has excellent signal integrity to show full coverage of the MAP analysis, however this is uncommon.

To verify the results, you may try much longer cable configurations to determine if the signal integrity worsens over longer lengths, this should be reflected by the margins shown in the MAP analysis.

Additionally, I noticed from the block diagram that the USB2ANY is connected locally to the 941AS, since the ALP info tab shows it brought up as the 940 profile, I just wanted to confirm that the USB2ANY is actually connected to the deserailizer during MAP analysis testing.

    • This is because if there were any integrity issues over the FPD-Link, it could have the possibility to return false negative / false positive information to the serializer.

Please let me know any feedback you have for these further tests.

    Thanks,

    Miguel

  • Hi.Miguel

    Thank you for your reply.

We attached it to the deserializer and got the same test results.

We'll try testing it with a longer cable as you suggested.

  • Hi Choi,

Thank you for correcting the configuration, I suspect the link integrity could be sufficient for all settings at these lengths if the longer cable test shows any failing results.

Please let me know your results from longer cable testing to confirm, thanks.

    Best,

    Miguel
