DS90UB949-Q1: The application issues of chips

Part Number: DS90UB949-Q1

Tool/software:

I have some questions about the usage of DS90UB949 + DS90UB948.  Please offer your support.

1.  The previous solution used: 1*DS90UB941 + 2*948 chips to drive 2 screens.
2.  After the project upgrade, the main control does not support the MIPI DSI interface but only supports the HDMI interface.  We would like to know if it is possible to use 1*949 + 2*948 to drive 2 screens?
3.  We would like to know how to use 949 + 948 in Replicate mode?

  • Hi Tony,

    2.  After the project upgrade, the main control does not support the MIPI DSI interface but only supports the HDMI interface.  We would like to know if it is possible to use 1*949 + 2*948 to drive 2 screens?

This depends, by default the 949 will use replicate mode but the FPD-Link III detection mechanism will accommodate for devices connected to the primary and secondary link.

    3.  We would like to know how to use 949 + 948 in Replicate mode?

According to data sheet, section 7.4.2.3 Replicate Mode and 7.4.2.4 Auto-Detection of FPD-Link III Modes"Replicate mode may be automatically configured when connected to two independent Deserializers" and "If the DS90UB949-Q1 detects two independent devices, it will operate in Replicate mode, sending the single channel video on both connections."

As long as you have 2*948 connected appropriately this should take place.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!

    Best,

    Miguel
