TS3DV642-Q1: About CSI-2 data rate information

Part Number: TS3DV642-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I want using it with SoM.

For my SoM D-PHY CSI-2 spec is 2.5 Gbps per lane, so total is 10 Gbps.
As mentioned in the TS3DV642-Q1 specification, "MIPI DPHY interfaces such as DSI and CSI-2 - up to 4.5 Gbps per lane"

Is that means if I using 4 lane, the total data rate can up to 18 Gbps?
I am not really quite sure because another part of the specification mentions a high-speed differential interfaces with data rates up to 6 Gbps.

Best regards

  • Hi Dennis,

Yes, you are correct in your understanding; Make sure the source and sink devices can also support this bandwidth.

    Thank you,

  • Hi Arya,

Thank you for the quick reply.

I am running four cameras over SerDes (GMSL2) at 1280x720, 60fps, UYVY.
As far as I know, each SerDes lane can support up to 2.5 Gbps, so I configured the link frequencies to 1250000000.

My SoM has two MIPI CSI ports:

One port goes through a multiplexer (TS3DV642-Q1) to switch between CSI and DSI.

The other port connects directly to the SoM.

However, the video output through the mux does not look good. That makes me wonder whether this configuration exceeds the specification limits.

Interestingly, when I reduce the link frequency to 750000000 ( 750Mx2=1.5G bps, 1.5G bps x 4 lane= 6 Gbps ), the issue no longer occurs.

(The 4 video on the left side have outputs through the mux)

    Best regards,

    Dennis
