TUSB320LAI: Regarding ESD rating

Hi team,

I have a question regarding the TUSB320LAI.

The ESD rating is noted in the datasheet, but I would like to confirm whether this applies to all pins and this is from some ESD protection circuit.
Looking at the schematic of the TUSB320LAI evaluation board, I noticed that the TPD4E05U06 is also mounted externally.
Therefore, I would appreciate your opinion on whether external ESD protection is still necessary.

    Hi,

    ESD rating applies to all pins of the TUSB320.

    This depends on system performance and application. We recommend having ESD protection on ports that will be external facing. This is an extra safety that may not apply in all conditions. However, it is insurance that is used to protect parts.
